Scouts
Our group is called Bewcastle as this is where it started but we have members from all over the area. They range in ages from 6 to 18 and are involved in all 4 sections, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer’s. We meet it various places from Hethersgill Village hall to Longtown to Cuddy,s Hall. Our aims are two-fold, to prepare young people with skills for life whilst giving them a breadth of different experiences.
Our summer on the whole was a good one although some of the community could probably have done with a bit more rain earlier on. We had both the Cubs and the Scouts away on camps. This gave us the opportunity to use the new tents and camping equipment we have purchased with a grant from the Hallburn Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund. The grant we received was proportionate based on over 33% of our Scouts being within the eligible funding area. The group would like to take the opportunity to thank them for their generosity and for the potentially great times ahead. It is our intention to increase the out in scouting for all our members.
If you have a young person who might be interested in taking part please contact me on the email or telephone number below. Secondly we are always looking for new leaders across all sections and as part of the management committee If you are interested in any of these positions or want more information please contact me at bewcastlescouts@gmail.com or my home telephone number.
My final plea is about the Co-op Local Community Fund out of Brampton we are one of its beneficiaries this year and are looking for support from the locality. I have included how it works for your information in hope you will support us.
Every time members shop at the Co-op, 1% of what they spend on selected own-brand products and services goes to the Co-op Local Community Fund. They also give you and the other causes in your community an equal share of the money we raise from sales of carrier bags. Members in your local community will be able to choose your cause and give their 1%.
Good scouting until next time.
